Booklet of 16 different continental postcards showing the Classicism style which emerged in Russia in the late 18th and early 19th centuries (to replace the pompous Baroque).     "LEVBRO COMPANY / 94 Greene Street / New York 12, N Y" postal card advertising architectural & interior decorating services (demolition, alteration, store fronts, painting, etc.), mailed 1954 to the Fink Baking Corporation at 510 East 76th. Bottom corner crease, stress marks from the left front edge, a little cancel ink on front, tiny speckles of toning near the bottom edge. They may have been affected by a famous fire there. In any case, their building was supposedly fire-proof but proved otherwise, so architects of the day had to take note before they designed any skyscrapers. Please note: The "temple" shown on this postcard is not a Jewish temple. Instead, it served to house part of Friedrich the Great's collection of antiques. Its architecture deliberately resembles that of a temple, as can be said of other buildings in that park. $7.50 ea
