France to New York, spots of toning in front caption area, toned back, edge wear includes

four-stacker, she was requisitioned for troop transport during World War II, bringing home

The APL in the caption stands for American President Lines, of course. During World War II a smaller ship named President Monroe saw military service as AP-104 and then was returned to APL in 1946. $2.25 s(o)s(a) PRINZESS
IRENE OF THE NORDDEUTSCHER LLOYD (NDL) LINE Seven real photo postcards, documenting a transatlantic voyage, with the ship sometimes referred to as Princess Irene in the captions for the English-speaking passengers. The year is 1912, which we get from all 7 captions. We see: a group of well-dressed male passengers standing by a ship life raft, a man & woman reclining in solitude between lifeboats (2 quite similar but different printing quality, one sepia tone, one black & white), deck with several passengers & funnels & rigging, the wake of the ship, a well-dressed couple near two large funnels, and a view from the forecastle including 2 smokestacks. During World War I the Prinzess Irene became the USS Pocahontas, a US Navy transport ship. After that war she sailed again under a German flag for NDL. All 7 real photos for $100.00 s(o)s(n)&& "Q. T. E. Y. QUEEN OF BERMUDA / 22,552 Gross Tons " chrome post card with pertinent information of back, from Dexter Press, unused. $2.50

"R.M.S.P. 'ARAGUAYA' (TWIN SCREW 17,500 TONS DISPLACEMENT)" signed drawing on monochromatic blue postcard, pertinent information of back about its trans-Atlantic routes, lightly toned back, light toning on front which coincidentally looks like smoke coming from its stack. This ship was registered in 1905 to the Royal Mail Line. $5.00 ss. Please see Royal Mail Lines for other such ships.

LA PROVENCE" with 2 older ships & 2 unidentified male portraits within an oval, color multiview postcard, tape repair to both sides of a half-inch tear at the top, small scrape on back, upper corner crease, noticeable wear to bottom edge, as is. $2.50 s(o)& "'S. S. Leviathan'" postcard mailed 1929 in US (2-cent coil stamp), interesting pertinent information of back includes words 'practically unsinkable', soft corners, light cancel ink on front. $6.00 s(o)s(u)% "S. S. LUSITANIA" postcard showing a side view of it underway near shore, color postcard mailed 1908 to Wisconsin, some cancel ink on front, one upper corner weakened by 2 creases, minor corner wear & rounding. Careful handling suggested. Sank with loss of 1,195 lives by a U-boat on May 7 1915, it galvanized public opinion against Germany before the US entered into World War I. $18.00 s(o) "SS LURLINE -- MATSON LINES LUXURY LINER / One of the smartest, most beautifully appointed vessels / afloat."
